The house is one of the oldest in North Hatley and was built by the Wadleigh family, who were the first permanent settlers in the town. It has been in possession of the same family, who purchased it from the Wadleighs, for more than 75 years, being continuously occupied throughout its existence. It retains many original details but was completely renovated and updated (from 2000 to 2004), and can be lived in year-round.
