Quebec's Real Estate Market Very Active in December
The year 2019 ended on a positive note for Quebec's real estate market, as sales across the province increased by 27 per cent.
The number of sales across Quebec increased by 27 per cent in December 2019 compared to December of 2018. Active listings and new listings fell by 13 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively.
All three property categories registered strong increases in sales but condominiums and plexes (2 to 5 dwellings) stood out with respective increases of 35 and 27 per cent. Sales of single-family homes increased by 24 per cent.
In terms of median price, the largest increase was for single-family homes at 6 per cent. The median price of both condominiums and plexes rose by 2 per cent.
Here is the median price of single-family homes in the province's six CMAs in December, as well as their variation as compared to December of 2018:
- Montreal: $355,000 (+9%)
- Gatineau: $267,000 (+5%)
- Quebec City: $253,500 (+2%)
- Sherbrooke: $211,143 (+7%)
- Saguenay: $172,000 (0%)
- Trois-Rivières: $167,250 (+1%)
