Very Active Month of July on Québec’s Real Estate Market
The number of real estate transactions concluded through the real estate brokers’ Centris® database increased by 12% in Québec in July 2017 compared to July of last year.
The largest increases in sales were in the Trois-Rivières (+25%) and Montréal (+16%) Census Metropolitan Areas (CMAs). It is interesting to note that half of all properties sold in Québec in July were in the Montréal CMA. The number of transactions also rose in the CMAs of Québec City (+7%), Sherbrooke (+4%) and Gatineau (+3%), while sales in the Saguenay CMA were unchanged.
The median price across the province increased by 5% for single-family homes, by 4% for condominiums and by 7% for plexes. Here is the median price of a single-family home in the province’s 6 CMAs in July 2017, as well as their variation as compared to July of last year:
• Montréal: $323,000 (+8%)
• Québec City: $251,000 (0%)
• Gatineau: $242,000 (+8%)
• Sherbrooke: $237,500 (+15%)
• Saguenay: $180,000 (+1%)
• Trois-Rivières: $149,000 (+2%)
