The house served as a service center around 1830-1860. It was the place in Brome where people gathered to meet with the notary, banker, fur trader, or grain merchant. The northern part served as lodging for professionals and merchants. The main room served as a meeting place in front of the marble fireplace, and visitors could sleep upstairs. The two kitchens were used for both food preparation and serving. The upper part of the present garage served as lodgings for servants and was only accessible from the outside. This house will be 200 years old in a few years.
